The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Rhode Island from 9:00 this morning until 6:00 this evening.
Forecasters say the low humidity, dry conditions and 35-mile-per-hour winds gusts create conditions that will quickly spread fires and make them difficult to extinguish.
Officials say the few showers that some parts of the state got yesterday did little to lessen the danger.
