Providence Mayor Brett Smiley today joined the Department of Public Works for a winter preparedness exercise that involved practicing snow plowing techniques on salt piles.
The mayor says by training the DPW crews and giving them the tools and resources they need, the city is reinforcing its commitment to keeping the streets safe and accessible throughout the winter.
In addition to training sessions, the DPW is making sure that all trucks and equipment have been thoroughly inspected and are ready for deployment.
