RI State Fire Marshal Says Applebee's Fire Was Caused By Gas Leak

The Office of the State Fire Marshal has released the cause of the October 16th fire at the Garden City Applebee's.

Investigators say a cleaning company employee was wiping down the hood system when they disconnected the grill from the gas line and the leak contacted a pilot burner, igniting the gas.

The Applebee's was declared a total loss after the fire, but the restaurant is expected to rebuild and eventually reopen.
