Ortho Rhode Island has reached a class action settlement of nearly three-million-dollars with patients whose information was compromised in last year's cyberattack.
The 2024 phone and computer system outage turned out to be a hack that may have exposed the names, addresses, billing and medical information of a significant percentage of patients.
The lawsuit alleged that Ortho did not follow industry standard practices in securing the private information and waited 90 days before notifying patients about the breach.
Ortho has denied the allegations but settled to dismiss the lawsuit.
