Man Charged With Severely Injuring Girlfriend's Cat

(Pawtucket, RI)  --  A Pawtucket man is facing charges after injuring his girlfriend's cat so severely it had to be euthanized.  Police say 25-year-old Scott Baptista of 2 Benefit Street was arrested Thursday after an investigation.  X-rays revealed the extent of the abuse, as the cat had broken ribs and punctured lungs.  If convicted of felony animal cruelty Baptista could spend up to five years behind bars and be fined $1,000.
