(Cranston, RI) -- A newly updated anti-panhandling ordinance is moving forward in Cranston. City Council approved two amendments to the original road safety ordinance introduced in October. The amended ordinance will be republished and a special council meeting will be scheduled to hold a final vote on the measure. Opponents claim the ordinance criminalizes poverty and charity.
