ART IMITATES LIFE ON SHOWTIME....OR VICE VERSA?

If Preet Bharara is looking for work, he’s always got a place on Showtime. The Manhattan US attorney that got fired over the weekend is the inspiration for the series created by Brian Koppelman and David Levien. “Billions” is loosely based on Bharara’s investigation into hedge fund manager Steven Cohen

Koppelman – who called Preet a man of honor and principle – offered  the newly unemployed lawyer a position as a tech advisor and a cameo on  the show. Levien actually offered him a job on the writing staff.

“Billions,” which is currently in its second season, stars Paul Giamatti and Damien Lewis. It’s been renewed for a third season.
