Council Looks To Strip Funds From Mayor's Program For Vacant Homes

(Providence, RI)  --  Providence Mayor Elorza's program to eliminate vacant homes is meeting with some resistance.  City Council is looking to cut $400,000 and reallocating it to a home repair program.  Council's proposal would assist homeowners with repairs so their homes come into compliance with city codes.  Elorza's EveryHome project, when launched two years ago was designed to eliminate 600 vacant properties in six years.
