Bill Would Prevent Taxpayer Money Paying For Stadium

(Providence, RI)  --  A Republican sponsored bill in the State House would prevent taxpayers from paying for a new stadium for the Pawtucket Red Sox.  The bill sponsored by Republican Representative Kenneth Mendonca would require a vote from the General Assembly before any public money is used to finance a new stadium.  The Republicans also say that a baseball stadium has a seasonal use and the number of long term jobs for the cost is not worth the risk.
