Providence Police Union Opposes Community Safety Act

(Providence, RI)  --  Providence's police union says it can't get behind the proposed Community Safety Act.  City council is preparing to vote soon on the ordinance but the union says the proposal "hampers our officers' abilities."  The proposed ordinance prohibits police from suspecting someone based on race, ethnicity or language to housing status or political affiliation.  The ordinance must pass council twice before it goes to the mayor for his approval.
