Providence Looks To Ban Plastic Bags

(Providence, RI)  --  Providence City Council will consider an ordinance that will go further than just banning the use of plastic shopping bags.  The ordinance would also require retailers to charge ten-cents for replacement paper bags or more durable plastic bags.  The ordinance, if approved, would be an effort to change shoppers' habits and get them to use more durable reusable bags.  The ordinance goes before council Thursday.
