Congressman Comments On Governor Endorsement

(Undated)  --  The endorsement from Georgia Congressman John Lewis in the Rhode Island governor's race is becoming a bone of contention. Lewis, who marched with Martin Luther King in the 1960s civil rights movement, tells WPRI-TV that he never would have endorsed Governor Gina Raimondo over challenger Matt Brown if he had known Brown was running. Lewis said he would have either endorsed Brown, who he described as a very, very good friend, or remained neutral, although he said he wasn't formally rescinding his Raimondo endorsement. A spokesman for Rhode Island Congressman David Cicilline told the TV station he solicited the support from Lewis and claimed he did not know Lewis knew Brown.
