Supreme Court Upholds Assault Conviction

(Providence, RI) -- The Rhode Island Supreme Court is upholding a conviction in a case involving a former Brown University basketball player who was assaulted. "The Providence Journal" reports the court on Wednesday affirmed the conviction of Tory Lussier of Connecticut, a former Marine reservist, in an attack on Joseph Sharkey, a backup guard for the Brown men's team. Police said Lussier sucker-punched Sharkey during a fight in Providence in 2013. Lussier received a seven-year suspended sentence plus probation and was ordered to perform community service and undergo treatment for PTSD, anger issues and alcohol abuse.
