Providence Pipeline Protester Loses Court Appeal

(Bismarck, ND)  --  A Rhode Island woman who was arrested for protesting the Dakota Access oil pipeline is losing her appeal in the criminal case.  The North Dakota Supreme Court has upheld convictions for Mary Redway of Providence and one other individual who were among 150 people taken into custody during an arrest in October of 2016.  The Water Protector Legal Collective, which describes itself as the legal team for Dakota Access protesters, calls the court ruling ominous for anyone who wishes to gather and express frustration with government or corporate action.
