Corrections Officer Sentenced For Inmate Drug Sale

(Boston, MA)  --  A Massachusetts Correctional Institute corrections officer from Pawtucket is being sentenced for conspiring to smuggle opioids into prison for an inmate.  The U.S. Justice Department says William Holts was sentenced in federal court in Boston on Monday to time served in prison, three months of home confinement and a two-thousand-dollar fine.  Prosecutors said Holts advised an inmate last year that he was willing to smuggle drugs for cash at MCI-Norfolk and agreed to bring in over one-hundred strips of Suboxone.
