Raimondo, Fung, Trillo Trade Barbs At Debate

(Bristol, RI)  --  Candidates for Rhode Island governor competing in the 2018 general election participated in their first televised debate on Thursday at Roger Williams University.  Democratic incumbent Gina Raimondo criticized Republican Allan Fung, the mayor of Cranston, for corruption in his city's police department, which was the focus of a state police report in 2015.  Fung and independent Joe Trillo went after Raimondo for the troubled UHIP benefit system.  The debate, which was moderated by WPRI-TV, went from fiery to a trade of insults at one point, with Trillo calling Fung wimpy and Fung saying Trillo was a loudmouth.
