(Exeter, RI)  --  Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery was a busy place at the end of last week.  The remains of Lieutenant Colonel Frederic Mellor, a pilot from Cranston who served in the Vietnam War, were laid to rest on Friday.  Mellor was listed as the first casualty from the Ocean State in that war.  Then on Saturday, a monument was unveiled at the cemetery honoring Rhode Island veterans of Cape Verdean descent, the first of its kind in the United States.
