Deepwater Wind Sold To Danish Wind Energy Company

(Providence, RI)  --  Rhode Island-based Deepwater Wind, which is developing offshore wind energy for the Ocean State, is being sold.  Danish wind energy giant Orsted is acquiring Deepwater for 510-million dollars.  Deepwater had started the only operational wind farm in the U.S. off Block Island prior to the state announcing a four-hundred-megawatt wind farm contract for the company this year.  Orsted competed for a Massachusetts wind energy project this year but was not chosen.
