State Senate Candidate Accused Of Stealing Signs

(Warwick, RI)  --  A state Senate candidate is facing a larceny charge for allegedly stealing his opponent's campaign signs.  Republican Scott Copley pleaded not guilty to the offense on Wednesday in Kent County court.  Democratic incumbent Lou Raptakis, who represents Coventry, West Greenwich and East Greenwich in District 33, has accused Copley of ripping the signs out of the ground at a couple of gas stations.  Copley says he was merely removing his own signs and his opponent's because permission wasn't given for their placement, and that he was going to return them.
