Fines Will Now Start From Providence Speed Cameras

(Providence, RI)  --  The grace period is ending for drivers caught going too fast on Providence's new network of speed-enforcement cameras.  Starting today, any driver caught going over 11 miles an hour over the posted speed limit will be issued a fifty-dollar fine.  The cameras, fifteen in total, are all operating near city schools.  The hours of operation and the size of the penalty were both reduced after the state General Assembly passed legislation regulating the controversial cameras earlier this year.
