Apology Issued For Newspaper Ad Above Shooting Story

(Providence, RI)  --  The Providence Journal is apologizing for an advertising sticker that appeared on the front page of its Sunday edition newspaper.  The sticker, placed directly above a story about the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting on Saturday, promoted the grand opening of the Preserve Sporting Shoppe in Richmond, and advertised that users could receive a free box of ammunition with every firearm purchase.  The Journal said in a statement that the timing of the ad was very unfortunate, and issued an apology.
