Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Committee Chair

(Providence, RI)  --  Rhode Island State Representative Cale Keable is being removed from his post as the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee after allegations of sexual harassment.  An email was sent in March from fellow State Representative Katherine Kazarian to House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello claiming she endured years of sexual harassment by Keable, according to a WPRI-TV investigative report that aired on Monday.  Following the report, Mattiello released a statement saying he removed Keable as chairman pending clarity on the issue.  The speaker said four years ago, he became aware of a close personal and professional relationship between the two, that it had ended, and that he then asked the two to separate and not interact with each other.  This year, Mattiello said he suggested Keable not be present for judiciary committee hearings where Kazarian was present to talk about her bill assignments.
