(Providence, RI) -- Providence City Councilwoman Sabina Matos is poised to become the next council president. A majority of the members of the Democratic Caucus of the council met on Saturday and endorsed Matos, who serves Ward 15, for the role. She won't officially get the gig until the full council votes in January. The action will mean current council president David Salvatore will relinquish a title that he has held for less than a year.
