Providence Building Gets City Council First Approval

(Providence, RI)  --  The Fane Tower project is getting initial approval from the Providence City Council.  A zoning variance allowing developer Jason Fane to construct a tower taller than one-hundred feet on former I-195 land was passed by an eight-to-five council vote on Thursday, with two councilors abstaining.  The council will take a second and final vote on the measure at a special meeting next Tuesday.  If it becomes a reality, the 46-story Hope Point Tower, which will serve as a high-end apartment building, will be the tallest building in Rhode Island.
