Former Rhode Island EMA Director Now Acting FEMA Leader

(Washington, DC)--The former director of Rhode Island's Emergency Management Agency is now the acting director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.Peter Gaynor is replacing previous FEMA director Brock Long, whose tenure was marked by criticism of the Trump administration's response to the devastation of Hurricane Maria on the island of Puerto Rico.Long says he is resigning to spend more time with his family.Gaynor was confirmed last October to be the next deputy administrator of FEMA after three years as Rhode Island EMA director.
