New Medical Transport Company Facing Financial Penalty

(Providence, RI)--The new ride service for non-emergency medical patients in Rhode Island, which has been criticized for its problematic start, is reportedly getting fined.Hundreds of complaints have been filed with the Rhode Island Executive Office of Health and Human Services since Medical Transportation Management's contract started at the beginning of 2019.State Medicaid Director Patrick Tigue told WPRI-TV on Friday that his office has not determined how much of a fine MTM will have to pay, but that the announcement will likely come within the next month.Tigue says there has been an improvement in MTM's service due to state oversight, but that the progress doesn't make up for the previous problems.
