Providence Man Sentenced On Manslaughter Charge

(Providence, RI)--A Providence man is pleading guilty to a manslaughter charge for the fatal shooting of his girlfriend a decade ago.Victor Arciliares was convicted of second-degree murder in 2012 for killing Dayvelliz Cotto but was awarded a new trial because it was determined the jury had not been properly instructed on the possibility of a manslaughter conviction.He was sentenced to 30 years in prison with 19 to serve in Superior Court yesterday.In a separate case, Arciliares had two trials for the shooting death of Alfredo Barros of Pawtucket, with the second trial resulting in a not-guilty verdict.
