State Rep Furious Her Sponsorship Of Bill Was Removed

(Providence, RI)--There is controversy in the Rhode Island House of Representatives over the House Speaker's apparent use of white-out to remove a name from a bill.Representative Kathy Fogarty accused Nicholas Mattiello of taking her name off legislation she signed onto, which would give the University of Rhode Island its own board of trustees.Mattiello, who authored the bill, acknowledged that he ordered Fogarty's name to be removed and said he did not ask her to work on it, and that it would be unfair to the legislators who have worked on the bill to list her as a sponsor.Fogarty is a member of a caucus that has criticized Mattiello's leadership.
