The Tree Macron Gave Trump To Symbolize Friendship Has Died

Last year, two world leaders stood with their wives on the South Lawn of the White House, gold-plated shovels in hand, and happily planted a sapling oak, a gift from France to the United States that symbolized the strength of the allies' bond.

French President Macron had come to the White House for the first official state visit of the Trump administration. He and President Trump planted the tree together. Now that tree is dead and some say, so is what it symbolized. French newspaper "Le Monde" was first to report that the tree apparently died while in quarantine.

Perhaps the two countries don't agree on much these days but hope that their relationship can once again blossom like the tree was supposed to do.
