(Washington, DC)--The nomination of Rhode Island Public Defender Mary McElroy to a federal judge seat is advancing.The U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary approved the nomination that was made by President Trump on Thursday, setting up a future vote from the full Senate.This is the third time the committee has approved McElroy; the previous two times, her nomination stalled.
