House Passes Budget Of Almost Ten-Billion Dollars

(Providence, RI)--The Rhode Island Senate is next up to vote on a budget just a shade under ten-billion dollars that was approved by the House on Saturday.The House vote authorized six more medical marijuana dispensaries and increased licensing fees for the new centers to 500-thousand dollars each.It also includes 200-million dollars to help fund the Nonviolence Institute, which House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello had put on the chopping block earlier last week.An amendment approved on Friday night authorized up to 25-million dollars in state tax credits for the proposed Fane Tower in Providence.
