Supreme Court Will Decide If Workers Can Be Fired For Being LGBT

While it’s illegal to fire someone over race, is it also illegal when the employee is LGBTQ? That’s what the Supreme Court will finally decide – and they’ll do so on October 8th.

SCOTUS has agreed to hear arguments for not one, but three cases involving discrimination against employees on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

While the landmark decision is expected to be a nailbiter – with a conservative-leaning court – more than 200 American companies (206 to be exact) have signed a“friend of the court” brief urging SCOTUS to acknowledge that existing discrimination laws also apply to LGBTQ workers.
