Hair-Braiding Law Signed

(Providence, RI)--A new law affecting natural hair braiders in Rhode Island is being signed. They are now exempt from having to become licensed hairdressers and cosmeticians.Governor Gina Raimondo signed the law on Friday. The bill's sponsors said forcing braiders to meet the same requirements as cosmetologists is a clear injustice, noting that hairdressing and barbering requires licensing due to the use of chemicals and sharp instruments.
