Cranston Portuguese Club Discrimination Complaint Settled

(Cranston, RI)--A discrimination complaint against the Cranston Portuguese Club is being resolved. The U.S. Attorney's Office and the Rhode Island Commission for Human Rights say the club had a policy of asking first-time patrons if they were Cambodian, and if so, the club then contacted the Cranston Police Department about having detail officers for an event, and charged the individual for the detail. The agreement stipulates that the club will establish a victim compensation fund and post a framed apology to the Rhode Island Cambodian community.
