(Providence, RI)--The owners of two Rhode Island trucking companies that have since closed are being sentenced on charges of scheming to falsify federal safety records.The U.S. Justice Department says Leslie and Robert Cucino, both of Foster, received a year of probation on Monday for directing employees to say there were no issues with their trucks on U.S. Department of Transportation inspection reports, and to allow trucks in need of repair to remain on the road.The Cucinos owned CDE Corporation and Winsor Hill Hauling and Recycling Corporation.The DOJ says state police in Rhode Island and Massachusetts frequently cited the company's vehicles for defects.
