DOJ Investigation Of English Learners In Providence Schools Made Public

(Providence, RI)--A memo from the U.S. Justice Department that is being made public looks at how the Providence School District handles English-language learners. The DOJ said in the document from last year that it found a dozen violations of the Equal Educational Opportunities Act, and that the school department was setting up English-language learners to fail.Interim Superintendent Frances Gallo says the district is working hard to address the shortcomings.
