Care New England Faulted For Health Care Merger Non-Agreement

(Providence, RI)--A letter from Governor Gina Raimondo theorizes what scuttled the latest efforts to combine Rhode Island's major health care organizations.The letter, obtained by The Providence Journal, was sent from Governor Raimondo to the chairman of Care New England appearing to blame CNE for failing to achieve the merger involving them, Lifespan and Brown University.Raimondo specifically claimed that as a condition of negotiations, the CNE board called for president and CEO Dr. James Fanale to be installed as the CEO of the new merged group.CNE officials aren't commenting on what Raimondo said.
