Man Accuses Providence Priest On "Credibly-Accused" List Of Abuse

(Providence, RI)--Attorneys for a Providence man who says he was sexually abused by a priest when he was a young child are considering whether a lawsuit can be filed.Robert Houllahan spoke to the media yesterday in front of Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul about the alleged abuse by the Reverend Normand Demers at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Providence.Demers, who died last year, was named in a list of credibly-accused clergy members in a child abuse report issued by the Diocese of Providence.The Rhode Island General Assembly passed a bill earlier this year extending the statute of limitations in child sexual assault cases.
