(Narragansett, RI)--A retired Rhode Island Superior Court justice has died.John E. Orton the Third passed away on Friday in Narragansett.Orton presided over some high-profile cases in the 1980s, according to a report from The Providence Journal. One was Rhode Island Housing and Mortgage Finance Corporation director Ralph Pari admitting to improper use of agency funds, and another was state Turnpike and Bridge Authority head James Canning being convicted of filing false expense vouchers and obtaining money through false pretenses.
