President Trump Letter To Turkish President; Erdogan Throws It Out

There’s a letter circulating that President Trump wrote to Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan. It’s being widely panned and word is Erdogan threw it out.

Among the things President Trump wrote is, "Let's work out a good deal! You don't want to be responsible for slaughtering thousands of people, and I don't want to be responsible for destroying the Turkish economy - and I will." It goes on to say "History will look upon you favorably if you get this done the right and humane way. It will look upon you forever as the devil if good things don't happen."

The White House has confirmed the letter is authentic and it’s being widely panned as using “juvenile” language by members of the press and some political figures both inside and out of the US.

Erdogan’s staff told the BBC that “he threw the letter into the bin and launched the Syrian operation the same day.” The UK news organization also says that Erdogan and Trump discussed military action last December. Diplomatic sources here in Ankara suggest that Turkey's broader strategic objective was to detach the Kurds and the Americans. That was obviously achieved.
