Judge Dismisses Lawsuit Against Rhode Island's New Abortion-Rights Law

(Providence, RI)--A judge is dismissing a lawsuit against Rhode Island's new bill protecting abortion rights.The Providence Journal reports Superior Court Judge Melissa Darigan dismissed the suit filed on behalf of the Catholics for Life advocacy group and other activists last week.An attorney for the plaintiffs says the decision will be appealed to the state Supreme Court. The Reproductive Privacy Act, signed by Governor Gina Raimondo in June, served to codify the privacy rights guaranteed by the U.S. Supreme Court decision in the Roe v. Wade case.
