Oakland Could House Homeless On Cruise Ship

(Oakland, CA) -- Oakland, California is considering housing homeless people on a cruise ship.

Supervisor Rebecca Kaplan said Tuesday that she had mentioned exploring housing on a large vessel at a previous city council meeting and two cruise ship companies have since contacted her about making it a reality.

One ship could easily house up to one-thousand people. Kaplan's looking into possibly docking a ship or two at the Port of Oakland as soon as January.
