Lawmakers Push for National Park Status At Jimmy Carter Sites

(Plains, GA) -- Lawmakers are working to redesignate sites connected to former President Jimmy Carter in his hometown of Plains, Georgia. A bipartisan push from Georgia representatives is underway in Washington, DC to classify the area as the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports sites would include the former president's childhood farm, high school, campaign headquarters and current home.
