Iran Fires Retaliatory Missiles At American Base In Iraq

The Pentagon is confirming that Iran fired over a dozen ballistic missiles against U.S. forces in Iraq. Officials say the missiles targeted two bases in Iraq where U.S. troops are stationed.

One of the bases attacked was al-Asad airbase in western Iraq, while the other was in Erbil [[er-beel]] in northern Iraq. The Defense Department says the missiles were fired from inside Iran.

The attack comes after last week's U.S. airstrike that killed a top Iranian general. There's no word on any casualties at either base as yet –President Trump has taken to Twitter to say that assessments are being completed and that he’ll speak on it today.

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said it was up to the United States to “come to its senses,” as he old journalists in Tehran “We showed everyone we are not the United States, we don’t want war.”
