Credit Card Breach Affects 60 Chain Restaurants

The company behind some popular chain restaurants has been hit by a data breach and 60 different eatery brands are affected.

Landry’s Inc. has issued a warning after a 2019 breach may have compromised customer credit card information. While some chains may have been breached in 2018, the bulk were last year between March and October. The breach, according to the company, was mainly due to human error.

Some of the restaurants involved include Joe’s Crab Shack, Holiday Inn Resort restaurants, Morton’s, and Landry’s Seafood House. You can see the full list and locations here.

Malware got into the unencrypted credit card readers, mainly used for bar and kitchen orders. It’s recommended that, if you ate at one of the locations, you check your card statements for unusual activity.
