Scaled-Back Minimum Wage Increase Approved By Senate Labor Committee

(Providence, RI)--The state Senate Labor Committee approved a minimum wage increase plan on Wednesday.The plan would raise the wage by one dollar on October 1st.This was a scaled-back version of what was originally considered, which was to increase the wage gradually up to 15 dollars an hour by the year 2024.The Providence Journal reports the Labor Committee removed that proposal from its agenda.Now the new minimum wage proposal will go to the full Senate for a vote.
