Reed Says Stimulus Package Will Give Rhode Island $1.25 Billion

(Washington, DC)--Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed says the federal rescue package agreed to on Wednesday to fight the economic impact of the coronavirus will give the state a grant of one-point-two-five-billion dollars.The U.S. Senate passed the roughly-two-trillion-dollar stimulus package on to the House of Representatives last night.Reed says the plan includes a state stabilization fund which directs the U.S. Treasury secretary to send the funds to Rhode Island within 30 days of the stimulus bill being enacted.The Rhode Island General Assembly's Disaster Emergency Funding Board is set to meet today to discuss borrowing up to 300-million dollars, citing the virus crisis.
