New State Order Freezes Unemployment Insurance Rates For Businesses

(Providence, RI)--Governor Raimondo on Friday announced the signing of an executive order affecting employers paying unemployment insurance.With unprecedented numbers of unemployment claims during the coronavirus crisis, the order will freeze the rates businesses pay, which normally go up when more employees are let go.The order also aims to speed up unemployment claim processing by expanding record-access abilities for the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training.
