COVID-19 RI UPDATE FOR SATURDAY, 5/02 - Cases Still at Plateau

Here is the summary of RI Governor Gina Raimondo’s daily COVID-19 briefing on Saturday.

·327 new cases, bringing the total to 9,289.

·17 new fatalities.Total= 296. Ages of fatalities range from 40s to 90s.

·Governor Raimondo reminds everyone to “hang in there” in maintaining social distancing.

·Governor says she is “worried about this weekend,” meaning the nice weather may tempt people to socialize and disregard social distancing guidelines.

·The next two weeks will reveal the trajectory of the number of cases and hospitalizations.If those numbers begin to decline during that period, the phased-in reopening of the state can proceed.
