Dr. Alexander-Scott Talks About FDA-Questioned COVID-19 Testing

(Providence, RI)--Rhode Island health director Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott on Friday addressed concerns from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration about possible inaccurate coronavirus-tests in Rhode Island.The FDA said the Abbot ID NOW test, which is used by CVS Health at the rapid-testing site at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, potentially returns false negative results.But Dr. Alexander-Scott said the results of the Abbott tests were validated before they were launched at the Twin River site.She said the positivity rate at the Twin River site is similar to the statewide average.
